This month’s Photo of the Month was Tom Daley’s “Out on a Limb”  Tom used his Pentax DL00 macro lens on f11 out in his backyard to get this shot.

Congratulations to Geraldine Lefoe for her image Metallic World which was selected by our guest judge Mark Kelly for PI of the month. Martin’s insightful commentary on the night was well received by the group. You can see Mark’s website at http://mkimages.com.au/ – check out his superb mono landscapes and infrared.

Gerry shot this image at the railway station in Auckland, New Zealand. She was using a tripod and just managed to get this shot in as a security guard asked her to leave – no tripods allowed inside but handheld fine. She used her Nikon D70s with settings of 0.005 sec (1/500) on aperture f/11. Well done Gerry!

“Playground Portrait” – Kim Arnold

October’s POTM was “Playground Portrait” from Kim Arnold.  The set subject for this month was Bokeh and Kim achieved a lovely balance between the sharpness of the subject and softness of the background. Kim used her  Nikon D80 with 50mm fixed lens, ISO 100, f 1.8 at 1/640, with the white balance set to open shade.  The photo was converted to black and white in Photoshop Elements 6 using convert to black and white function with sliders, slight increase in contrast and sharpened.

Daisies at Napier

The September POTM was “Daisies at Napier” taken by Anne Bowman. It was taken in April whilst Anne was walking through the local park in Napier, the Art Deco centre of New Zealand.  Anne was drawn to the shapes of the flower heads and used her Nikon D50, aperture priority mode, f5.7, ISO 200, auto white balance, Nikon 18 – 55 lens set at 55mm to capture this great image.

Congratulations to Lisa Enever for her image Far from the Madding Crowd which was selected by our guest judge Martin Reagan for PI of the month. Lisa shot this image at the The Rocks Aroma Coffee Festival. The people looked down on huge crowds jostling for position to watch street performers and waiting in endless queues for coffee. She used her Canon EOS 400D Digital with settings of 0.003 sec (1/400) on aperture f/2.8. Well done Lisa!

The August POTM was “Old Timer Windang Island” taken by Graham Hamilton at our breakfast outing. Graham used a Nikon D70 with the Nikon 18 -70 at 18mm, f9 @1/40 sec, tripod, neutral density filter, with some level and saturation adjustment in Lightroom. And he didn’t get his feet wet.

The pointscore competition results were announced at our Annual Dinner and trophies were presented by Allan Hitchell, President of the Federation of Camera Clubs. Congratulations to all the winners.
