June Photo of the Month

Filed under: Photo of the month — Brian @ 7:33 am

Hoi An FishermanThe June photo of the month was Lorraine Tibbitt’s “Hoi An Fisherman”. The shot was taken on Lorraine’s last trip to Vietnam with Malcolm Fackender’s Spotlight on Asia tour. It was taken with a Panasonic Lumix DCM-FZ5. The great colours are as they were shot, with just some minor cropping from the original.

New Competition Entry Forms

Filed under: Competitions — Brian @ 12:34 am

The club has developed new entry forms for both the print and projected image competitions.

The Adobe Acrobat forms can be downloaded and filled in on screen before printing - making the job of the Competition Steward a bit easier. You can also save the form to keep a record of your entries.

You will need Acrobat Reader 7.0 or later - go to http://www.adobe.com to download the latest reader.

The club will also have a small supply of forms available on competition nights for those members who put all their effort into their prints, run out of time to type their entry and have to hope the Competition Steward can read their handwriting.

May Photo of the Month

Filed under: Photo of the month — Brian @ 6:43 am

Jo Pattison “A Darker Side”

May’s photo of the month was Jo Pattison’s “A Darker Side”. The judge was very impressed with this strong image, with just the face and neck without a background, as well as the tone and texture of the face. The print version shows just hint of dark detail on the left side of the face, which may not be visible on a computer screen. Jo used her flash off the camera to create the strong sidelight.

April Photo of the Month

Never Too Old

April’s photo of the month was Geraldine Lefoe’s ” Never Too Old”. Geraldine was at Cronulla pool at dawn after attending a friend’s retirement dinner the night before. She was struck with the vibrancy of the woman’s bathers and cap. Despite a freezing morning she didn’t hesitate to get straight in the water. A great reminder that retirement is a new beginning and that you’re “Never too old”. Taken with a Nikon D300 and 18-200mm zoom using a tripod.
