March POTM

Filed under: Uncategorized — Brian @ 5:22 am

The POTM for March was from Allayne Foley.

Jazz Muscian

Jazz Musician

Allayne said “I took the photo with my Nikon D70 while on holiday on Lord Howe Island last winter. I was staying at Pine Trees where they have jazz musicians in the winter as an added attraction because the weather is not so good. Its a great place to stay to relax, unwind and eat the fabulous food!

The photo was taken indoors at night (without flash) and the light was very poor. I put the ISO to 1000 in order to get the photo. The quality is therefore pretty noisy. I was hoping to get a photo where I could show the musicians close relationship to his instrument and his intensity of listening to the sound. I made the photo black and white so I could concentrate on just the strings of the double bass and the fingers and face of the musician. “

  1. That’s a very brave shot in low light. Well done. Lord I would love to photograph a wedding on Lord Howe Island as I specialise in tropical beach wedding photography and Lord Howe Island is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
