May Photo of the Month

Jo Pattison “A Darker Side”

May’s photo of the month was Jo Pattison’s “A Darker Side”. The judge was very impressed with this strong image, with just the face and neck without a background, as well as the tone and texture of the face. The print version shows just hint of dark detail on the left side of the face, which may not be visible on a computer screen. Jo used her flash off the camera to create the strong sidelight.

Never Too Old

April’s photo of the month was Geraldine Lefoe’s ” Never Too Old”. Geraldine was at Cronulla pool at dawn after attending a friend’s retirement dinner the night before. She was struck with the vibrancy of the woman’s bathers and cap. Despite a freezing morning she didn’t hesitate to get straight in the water. A great reminder that retirement is a new beginning and that you’re “Never too old”. Taken with a Nikon D300 and 18-200mm zoom using a tripod.
