Remember to mark your diary for the Kiama Art Society’s 28th Annual Art Exhibition, to be held at the Kiama Leagues Club from October 29 to November 5, 2006.

The Society’s Coach House Gallery is also well worth a visit, although it’s currently closed for the winter.

Shopping For A New Camera?

Filed under: Links — Darren @ 8:44 am

Man hand-holding a Seitz 6x17 digital camera. The new Seitz 6×17 Digital is a scanning back 160 megapixel digital camera and costs 28,900 Euros (just under AUD$50,000). That price doesn’t include any lenses.

The full-resolution images are 21,250 x 7,500 pixels, and the resulting files are about 950 MB uncompressed. Even though it’s a scanning back, it can shoot a full resolution 6×17 panorama in under half a second - that’s a massive improvement over previous scanning back cameras that took a minute or more per shot.

Check out this photo of a guy holding one - I don’t think this thing will fit comfortably in your pocket.

I find the fact that there’s a market for someone to commercially produce a camera like this amazing. How awesome would it be to have a legitimate use for it?!
